A Frère come type lithotome by Maison Mathieu Paris of c. 1880. Signed on the handle ‘Mathieu a Paris’. Made of steel and guilloche ebony, with gently curved shank and concealed blade, stamped with numbered demarcation lines 1-4 (unevenly spaced), operated via screw adjustable fenestrated lever, with cross hatch, ebony handle with plated ferrule.
