Ivory Anatomical eye model, 18th century
Exquisitely crafted anatomical model of the human eye, Continental probably German and mid – 18th century. The presentation case is made of Ivory. The Eye itself is made of the most finely crafted ivory and glass. Â The lenses are in good and working condition. The model was used for showing the working mechanisme of the lenses in a human eye. There are two lenses, one by the Iris and one at the bottom. If you look thrue the eye you see everything upside down. They painted the eyebrowns on the ivory eyelid. Even the eye room inside is painted black. Â The knob on the top is missing, but further on in good condition. 11 cm high with a 7 cm diameter.
