An French amputation saw with original handle. The saw is signed but the name cannot be deciphered. This amputation saw is typical of designs from the 18th C. The original blade is held by locking nuts and it has an ornate frame and a ebony turned handle which is fixid with a wrought Iron heart at the end. Unfortunately for patients, these decorative features provided an ideal environment in which germs could thrive. Length of the saw 54 cm
