Description
A circa 1860-70 Mathieu metal lithotrites in working condition. It is referred to in Harold Thompson’s 1863 paper on Lithotomy and Lithotrity as “The modern French Screw lithotrite”. The particular advantage of this instrument was the ability to apply crushing force on a stone using both a screw mechanisms by ebony handle, and also by percussion. Length 36 cm.
