Dutch Compass in case, C 1920
A Dutch compass in mahogany case. The box got a label with the text: “De gouden bril – Hilversum – J.H. Smit-Duyzentkunst – Opticien – Kerkstraat 67”. There is no makers name on the compass and has an integral needle lock on the side of the brass Compass. Dial has been inscribed in flowing script â€˜N – NO – O – ZO – Z – ZW – W – NW with an arrow with the point to north. There is also a scale with 360 degrees. Compass shows some darkened age spots, On the back you see a less oxidation incase of the green velvet on the bottom of the box. Measurements box 15 x 15 x 3cm and in good working condition.
